Delete your data
Poofora has no account and no server of ours, so there is nothing stored about you on our side. Everything Poofora keeps is on your iPhone, and you control it.
What Poofora keeps on your iPhone
- Your decisions: the list of marked photos, the photos you kept, and which copy replaces which original.
- A scan cache with image fingerprints, sharpness and face-quality scores, and file checksums.
- If you tapped “Read my screenshots”: a search index with the text recognised in your screenshots, labels and barcode types, and your last eight searches. Screenshot text can be private. It is not included in device backups.
- Country codes with photo counts and years for “Where I’ve been”, without coordinates.
- A list of what you converted or queued for compression.
- A deletion log with the date, number of items and size of each deletion, statistics and the free-space measurement.
- The free allowance counter: one number, how many of your free deletions you have used. Poofora keeps it in two places, the iOS Keychain and its preferences on your iPhone. It holds no photos or personal data and is never sent anywhere.
- Usage counters: how often some events happened in the app (for example that a scan finished or that a plan screen was shown), with the first and last date and a few short labels such as a plan name. Never photos, filenames or library details, and never sent anywhere.
- A copy of your last purchase status from Apple (which plan, whether a family member shared it with you, and when it ends), two dates for the Lifetime card and the dates of the last rating requests.
- Contacts history (date, type and number of contacts, no names), and your settings, including your notification choices, the background switch and your Protection rules.
- Counters for notifications: install date, last open, when you last used up the free allowance, last tap on a notification, which features you opened, and the IDs and dates of recently delivered notifications. No photos, names or text.
- Numbers shared with the widgets and Siri through an App Group on your iPhone: counts and sizes per category, your streak and whether Poofora Premium is active.
- Contact backup files (.vcf), if you merged contacts. Poofora saves them in its Documents folder. They are in the Files app under On My iPhone > Poofora > ContactBackups, are included in your iPhone backups, are never uploaded, and are never deleted automatically.
- The Photos album “Poofora: to delete”, if you left the album switch on.
How to delete it
- Inside the app: Settings > Clear scan cache removes the scan cache, the screenshot search index and the country counts. The Screenshot Brain screen erases the screenshot text and your recent searches. Settings > Show kept photos in Swipe again resets your kept list. Clear scan cache does not reset the free allowance or the usage counters.
- Notifications: turn them off in Poofora Settings or in iOS Settings. This cancels all pending notifications.
- Contact backups: delete the .vcf files in the Files app under On My iPhone > Poofora > ContactBackups. If you copied a backup elsewhere, delete that copy too.
- Delete the app: removing Poofora from your iPhone deletes its data on the device, including the contact backup files, the counters stored for notifications, the usage counters and the preferences copy of the free allowance number. Copy any backup you want to keep first.
- The free allowance number in the Keychain: iOS may keep this single number after you delete the app, so reinstalling may or may not bring back your free deletions (we do not promise either way). Poofora has no button to remove it, and iOS has no setting to delete one app’s Keychain items. Erasing the iPhone removes it (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings). The number is not tamper-proof and is never sent anywhere.
- The album and saved copies: the album “Poofora: to delete” and the smaller copies Poofora saved stay in Photos until you delete them there (Photos > Albums). Deleting the album does not delete the photos in it.
Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple, including sharing Family Premium through Apple Family Sharing. Manage or cancel a subscription in Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions, or tap Manage subscription in Poofora Settings. Use Restore Purchases in Poofora Settings to restore a past purchase. Poofora does not see your payment details and has no account for you.
